About Whitney Alvis
Whitney practices in the areas of estate planning, asset protection planning, taxation, business entities, non-profit organization formation and taxation, and commercial transactions. Whitney graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Health and Sports Science in 2000 and an M.B.A. (Beta Gamma Sigma, Michael F. Price College of Business Scholarship) in 2002. While at the College of Business, she worked overseas for four months at the British Banker’s Association and co-authored Efficient Utilization of Medical Practice Resources: A Framework and Case Analysis, Journal of Health Care Finance 2003; 30(1):41-48. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law with a J.D. (Order of the Coif, Allie M. and Robert E. Stephenson Scholarship) in 2005. She attended Oxford University in Oxford, England the summer of 2004. Whitney is a member of the American Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association, Oklahoma City Estate Planning Council, and the Oklahoma City Tax Lawyer Group.
Whitney is the mother of three children: Mikel, Teg, and Duke.She enjoys spending time on the family farm with her kids, allocating significant hours each month to pro bono work for charities and individuals, hiking and reading. Whitney has participated in three Breast Cancer 3 Day events (walking 60 miles over three days in each event), the OKC Memorial 1/2 marathon twice and the Maryville, MO marathon.
Whitney sits on the board of trustees of Culver Academies in Culver, Indiana, a private, college preparatory high school from which she graduated and on the board of the Citizens Advisory Board of Cleveland County. Whitney worked at the law firm of Mock, Schwabe, Waldo, Elder, Reeves & Bryant in Oklahoma City for two years prior to opening her solo practice in December 2006 in Norman, OK.
About Misty Osburn
Misty is the Legal Assistant for Whitney Alvis, and has worked for the Alvis family since 2009. Misty completed two years of undergraduate vocal education at Oklahoma City University (Alpha Chi Omega, College of Music Scholarship), then received her B.F.A. with a secondary emphasis in business accounting from the University of Oklahoma in 1999. After graduation, Misty worked as a Legal Assistant and Resource Manager for both large and small law firms in Oklahoma, Manager of a veterinary hospital, and as an IT Training Coordinator for a large natural gas company.
Starting in 2010 and while working full-time, she attended evening classes at Oklahoma City Community College (Beta Sigma Gamma) as a pre-requisite to attend nursing school. In June of 2012, Misty graduated from Moore-Norman Technology Center’s Licensed Practical Nurse program (faculty-appointed Student Liaison for LPN55 class of 2012) and passed her licensing board exam in July of 2012.
Misty is the mother of two children, Gabriel and Abigail, who she home-schools. Her husband is in accounting with the Federal Aviation Administration. Misty enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and also allocates a great deal of time volunteering for local organizations. She is currently a member of the Boy Scouts of America, the leader of a Girl Scout troop, a member of the advisory service team for the local chapter of Girl Scouts, and volunteers at local animal sanctuaries. Misty is a newly-elected member of the Citizen’s Advisory Board, and participated in the 2011 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.
